FTWCCU will NEVER send you an email asking to “update” your member account information such as your account number, social security number, home address, password, etc. This type of email is a scam known as “phishing.” These emails often create a sense of urgency by telling you that if you don’t respond and “verify your account information,” your account will be deactivated or closed. Don’t fall for it! FTWCCU, or any reputable business, will never use email to gather sensitive account information.
In addition, please don’t click on any “links” in these types of emails. The link will probably take you to a fake website that looks just like a valid website. Once there you’ll be asked to divulge your personal information. It’s also possible that a computer virus could be transferred to your PC from this type of site.
To be safe on the internet, question any email that asks for your financial or personal information! Your best response is to just delete it.
